Vulnerability and Connection

The power of connection is so important in my work. I tell people that come to see me that if they don't feel connected, then we need to find someone that they can connect with. What is even more interesting is what it takes for therapy connecting. Vulnerability is at the core of the therapy process. One might think that it is just the client that has to be vulnerable, but really, I have to be vulnerable as well. In my office, my clients and I explore some of the deepest and darkest areas of the soul. We both have to be willing and trusting to do this. I also see people as worthy of the process. They deserve to be heard and understood. It takes guts, it takes courage. That is why I just loved this talk from Brene Brown.
