Holiday Anew

One of the things that strikes me about this time of year is our traditions. Don't get me wrong, I love traditions. At my house we watch a movie while we decorate our tree and we open our gifts on Christmas Eve instead of Christmas Day. With traditions come a lot of expectations. And when those expectations aren't meant, it can feel so dissapointing. So this year I am encouraging people to do something different. Try a different way of doing things.

This is so important for those that have experienced loss of relationships this year. Maybe last year you were headed over to the in-laws for a holiday feast and this year, you are divorced living in a 1 bedroom apartment. Now is the time to let go of the past and start looking at the now. Look at what you are at and dream big about you want to do with this moment. You need a vision without expectations. It is like holding hope for the future and being open to possibilities that you never thought of before.

So this year, what new thing do you want to try? Spend time with new friends or family, try a new meditation practice, buy yourself a gift, volunteer in our community...options are endless.
